Things you didn’t know about Michael Jordan before watching The Last Dance series

The Last Dance series is the ultimate sports documentary, which aired this spring. The 10 episodes TV mini-series is a sports and historic documentary about the great success of the ‘90s Chicago Bulls. The team ruled the NBA and is viewed as one of the best teams in the history of sports.

At that time, the team succeeded in two streaks of three championships won, in all six being led by the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan. He led an entire dynasty to legend and thus making it one of the most famous sports teams of the ‘90s.

Chicago Bulls

Chicago Bulls are the only NBA team to have featured in multiple finals and won them all. In the present day, the Bulls are trailing in the Eastern Conference, below the playoff line. Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers currently have the best odds of winning the NBA championship, and you can bet on that at Unibet, which features the NBA offer, including games and the 2020 Draft.

Apart from Michael Jordan

Apart from Michael Jordan, in that ‘90s team, there were players Scottie Pippen and Denis Rodman, and coach Phil Jackson. There were great finals for the Bulls, with some great comebacks.

Needless to say that Michael Jordan was in the center of it. He was the MVP in all six finals and scored +20 points in every finals game. While his list of records and achievements seems endless, so are the stories. And this is what The Last Dance series brought to the screen – some of the untold and unknown stories.

Here are some of the things people didn’t know about Michael Jordan, before watching The Last Dance TV series:

Magic Johnson

Despite being just 2 and a half years older than Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson was his teenage idol. The Los Angeles Lakers and NBA legend faced Jordan in the Bulls’ first NBA final, in 1991. Later, Michael Jordan confessed that he admired Johnson in high school and that he was called “Magic Jordan”.

Magic number

Despite everybody knows that Jordan made “23” famous, that wasn’t the only number he wore at the Chicago Bulls. The team retired the number, and surprisingly so did the Miami Heat in 2003, upon Jordan’s retirement, even though he did not play for the Florida team.

Florida team

He also wore a “45” jersey when he returned to NBA in 1995, because that was his number when he played baseball in 1993-1994, and after a short time returned to 23. But a young Jordan in his 20s had to play one game with a nameless number 12. That happened in a game against Orlando Magic, 30 years ago, on February 14, 1990, because his jersey had been stolen.

How did the tongue come out

The image with Jordan in action having his tongue out is iconic. That was a habit he has inherited from his father. The senior used to stick out his tongue when fixing things around the house, so the young Jordan started doing it while “fixing” the basketball games.

Retrieving Rodman

One of the main characters of the Bulls’ success was Dennis Rodman. Jordan retrieved him from a vacation he needed in the 1997-1998 season, in Las Vegas. Then, Michael Jordan put him to hard work to get him back in shape.

Michael Jordan was emotional

The player Michael Jordan had an emotional reaction when the team won its first title, in 1991. That was a surprise for his teammates, who didn’t see anything but the competitive Jordan in the game. He also have been wrote a poem as the team said goodbye at the end of the 1998 season. That was the moment that himself, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and was coach Phil Jackson, among others, left the team.
